It’s the penultimate weekend of the 2025 Six Nations Championship and there is no boxing-style undercard ahead of the main event. Instead, Ireland takes on France in the first match, and it is effectively the championship decider. True, both teams will still have one match to play but this week’s winner will be a strong favourite for its final encounter. Whichever team wins this weekend’s clash will be in pole position, heading into the final week in first place in the table. Elsewhere, Scotland and Wales play for pride in Edinburgh while England hopes to thrash Italy at Twickenham.

We had two winners from three selections in both week two and week three - let’s hope for more of the same this weekend.

Six Nations Week 4 - Betting Tips and odds

Match Overview - Ireland vs France Rugby

If the two teams can’t get up for this match, they don’t deserve to win the championship. Ireland is going for a historic three-peat because no nation has ever won the Six (or Five) Nations title outright in three consecutive seasons. If Ireland wins on Saturday only Italy on the final weekend stands between them and glory. The French can ruin Irish hopes with a win, however. That would leave them top of the table with the opportunity to claim the championship in the final match against Scotland next week. Expect a classic in Dublin.

Ireland vs France Key Players to Watch

The backline threat of the French is apparent in the numbers. Flying winger Louis Bielle-Biarrey has scored more tries than anyone else this year (five), while scrum-half genius Antoine Dupont leads both Try Assists (six) and Offloads (nine). Romain Ntamack returns at fly-half after suspension, which is something of a risk, and experienced star Damian Penaud is back on the wing. Meanwhile, Caelan Doris is fit to captain Ireland. The two benches need to be strong. France has a 7-1 forward-back spli,t and Ireland has gone 6-2.

Ireland vs France Key Stats

  • The two teams are very even: in the last six matches between them, they have won three apiece - and, in the last eight, four each.

  • Ireland has fared better at home in recent history, however - they have won three of the last four matches in Dublin.

  • France has scored 21 tries in the tournament so far, which is more than Ireland and Scotland (joint second with 10) combined.

Ireland vs France Rugby Betting Odds

  • Ireland 1.83

  • Draw 21.0

  • France 2.10

Ireland vs France Betting Tips

Louis Bierre-Bialley to Score a Try at 2.50 with SportingBet

The French flyer has been on fire in the 2024/25 international season. He scored a try against Japan, New Zealand and Argentina in the Autumn Internationals. He then scored two tries against Wales, two against England and one against Italy in the Six Nations. He’s, therefore, 5-for-5 at crossing the white line this season, and we can get him at odds against to do so again. Ireland will be a tough nut to crack, but he’s electric, and Antoine Dupont has a great relationship with him.

Match Overview - Scotland vs Wales Rugby

Scotland’s ability to be an enigma is fascinating if you are not Scottish. Against England - and away from home, remember - it had 58% possession, 59% territory, carried 462 metres more than the opposition and won the linebreak tally 9-2. Yet, in 10 entries to the English 22, it came away with no points. They truly flatter to deceive. The Welsh have been more straightforward this championship: awful in the first two games under Warren Gatland, then revitalised under new coach Matt Sherratt. Can they continue the transformation this week?

Scotland vs Wales Key Players to Watch

Finn Russell missed three conversions against England, which proved critical to the one-point defeat, and his mistakes are a constant in Scotland’s ongoing trend of underwhelming results. On the other hand, he is the man most likely to create a moment of brilliance. Wales are unchanged from last time out in the courageous defeat to Ireland. The experienced half-back combination of Tomos Williams and Gareth Anscombe is key to their hopes.

Scotland vs Wales Key Stats

  • Scotland has won the last two matches between the sides but Wales has claimed victory in 14 of the last 18 clashes.

  • Wales also has a good record in Edinburgh: it has won six of the last eight matches in the Scottish capital.

  • Scotland’s game is revealed in the stats: they lead the championship for Carries and Total Passes, and only France has made more Offloads and Linebreaks.

Scotland vs Wales Rugby Betting Odds

  • Scotland 1.10

  • Draw 34.0

  • Wales 6.5

Keep this simple. If Finn Russell clicks, Scotland should humble the visitors. But, if the match stays tight, the crowd will heap stress on a squad that is vulnerable to mistakes and errors. And the Welsh know it. Scrum coach Adam Jones is relishing the chance to upset the hosts and that match record - especially in Edinburgh - is the clincher.

Match Overview - England vs Italy Rugby

The weekend will close with what, in theory, should be the least competitive of the three matches. It is, perhaps, only England’s ridiculous inability to put an opponent to bed that offers hope of a thriller of any kind. Against that, Italy looked messy against Scotland in the tournament opener, only scraped past a poor Welsh effort, and suffered a 49-point defeat against the French. Surely this is a golden opportunity for England to enjoy a free-wheeling final quarter?!

England vs Italy Key Players to Watch

Finn Smith took over fly-half duties for England in the tournament’s second match and impressed everyone. He was less assured against Scotland but did land what proved to be a crucial penalty kick from near the halfway line. This encounter offers the opportunity for him to recalibrate and kick on to a high level. Italy hopes that centre pairing Juan Ignacio Brex and Tommaso Menoncello fires and that Tommaso Allan continues to land penalties and conversions.

England vs Italy Key Stats

  • England won 16-15 two weeks ago making it 17 of its last 19 matches that have been decided by a winning margin of less than 10 points.

  • England has won seven of the last 10 matches between these two teams by 30 points or more.

  • These two teams rank worst in the championship for Carries and also rank first and second for most Kicks in Play.

England vs Italy Rugby Betting Odds

  • England 1.03

  • Draw 34.0

  • Italy 10.0

England vs Italy Betting Tips

England to win with the handicap (-20.5pts) at 1.83 with SportingBet

This is another simple one. True, it would need the English to finally pull up their socks and win comfortably. But the stats are in our favour because England has won eight of the last 10 Six Nations matches between these two teams by at least 21 points. In the middle of that run, it also won a World Cup Warm-Up game by 37 points. So, in nine of the last 11 matches, this bet would have won. We’ll take those numbers.
